Remote Control System™ · The Book

Who Has Your Remote Control?

For the split second before you, your family, your team and your clients react.

The front cover of Who Has Your Remote Control? by Reham Nasr, with the subtitle A practical system for the split second before you react.

Most people already know what they should have said. They just find the words an hour too late: in the car, in the shower, at 11pm. Who Has Your Remote Control? is a short, practical book about that split second, what presses on you before you answer and how to take your remote control back sooner.

You don’t need to have read a book like this before. Each of the 15 chapters is one real moment from an ordinary day, at home or at work, and the button that was running it. Not advice about staying calm. A system for the split second before you react, and a name for what happens in it.

Does this sound like you or someone you know?

You knew better. You said it anyway. Or you said nothing in the meeting, then said it perfectly in the car on the way home.

If that’s you, or someone you live or work with, the book names what happened in that split second, and the button that was running it.

What it costs

Every week it keeps running, it’s another 6pm you replay at 11pm. Another meeting where you said yes and meant no. Another Thursday at 4:45pm with the one task still waiting.

It doesn’t announce itself. It just keeps the same time.

Picture next Tuesday

6pm. Coats and bags are still on the floor by the door. 3 questions at once. You feel the Volume Button press on you. This time, you notice it while it’s happening.

You still answer. You decide to answer with an intentional response, on purpose.

What’s inside

15 real moments

Each chapter is one ordinary moment, at home or at work, and the button that was running it. Moments you will recognise from your own week.

The 10 buttons

6 press on you. 4 you press. Named, so you can notice the one that’s pressing in the split second it happens.

The load is the weight you carry when the moment arrives: the endless questions since 7am, the meeting that ran over, the message you have not answered. Pressure is the load. The other 5 are how the load shows up in you.

6 press on you. 4 you press.
Together they return the remote control to your hand.

What readers say

“The chapter on the Handover named something I had been doing for decades without a word for it. I finished this book in two sittings and started the workbook the same week.”

Head of Operations, Healthcare sector · reader

“In emergency medicine you are always operating under pressure. Most training covers the technical response. This book addresses what happens before the technical response begins.”

From the author

Why I wrote it

Reham Nasr, chest-up headshot, looking at the camera with a warm smile.

One question has run through my work since 1998: why do capable, values-driven people act against their own judgement under pressure?

I was doing it and so were my clients. Everything I had learned arrived after the moment had already gone. The problem was never effort. It was timing.

Keeper of the Remote Control

The Remote Control System™ teaches you how to take back your remote control into your hand to become the Keeper of the Remote Control (KRC).

A KRC still feels the pressure. A KRC sees the Handover™ earlier, and says “that was Volume” out loud, so the people around them learn it and apply it with you too.

Frequently asked questions

What is the book about?

The split second between pressure arriving and your response leaving. It teaches the RCS™ framework sequence: Pause · Notice · Reset · Decide. It names the 10 buttons: 6 press on you, 4 you press. This framework sequence and these buttons operate in The Moment, The Handover™, The Gap and The Return™.

Is this a book about decision making?

Yes, about the decisions you make in the split second under pressure: the yes that leaves before you have decided on it, the reply that goes out louder than you meant, the sentence you drop. It is not a book about big life decisions.

How is this different from other books about reacting?

Everyone is taught what to do. No one is taught when. Most advice works before the moment or after it. This book works inside it: earlier recognition, earlier interruption, a faster return and a shared language for the people around you.

Is this a book about anger?

No. Anger is one of the emotions that can trigger a button to press on you, and it is not alone. The book also covers urgency, loyalty, fear, duty and the wish to keep the peace. It is a book about the moment, not about one emotion.

Do I need the workbook?

Naming is free. Learning is the book. It teaches the RCS™ framework sequence and the 10 buttons. Practising is the workbook. Catching the Moment is the app. That’s the Remote Control System™ in action. The book teaches the system. The workbook is where the system stops being an idea and starts being your weekly operating system. Together they are £37.

If you have read it

The book was published on 29 September 2026. The first reviews are the ones every later reader sees first. Yours could be one of them.

Three lines is a review.

1

Name one moment

A takeaway, a real moment you caught or a line that stayed with you.

2

Say why it mattered

What changed, or what you saw that you had not seen before.

3

Say who you would hand it to, and who you would not

This is the part the next reader uses most.

Straight there: the book on Goodreads · the ebook on Goodreads · the ebook on Amazon.co.uk · the paperback on Amazon.co.uk.

There is no incentive, and there never will be. If it did not land, say that too. A page of five-star reviews with nothing between them is less believable than an honest three.
